Q: I have a prescription for Nutriplen compact but I can only obtain Altraplen? I have been told it is the same product can I still dispense it?
A: The manufacturer Nualtra, has indicated that from 11 April 2016, the name Nutriplen has changed to Altraplen.
Nutriplen and Nutriplen Protein will become Altraplen Compact and Altraplen Protein respectively. The packaging and product labels only differ to show the new product brand names (all product codes remain the same)
The full range of Altraplen name changes can be seen on pages 702, 723 and 735 of the English and Wales May 2016 Drug Tariff.
Contractors England and Wales are reminded that the Drug Tariff lists both Altaplen and the former name Nutriplen. Therefore any prescription with either Nutriplen or Altraplen will be reimbursed as normal.
