Tips for completing the application

  • You will be required to submit your 52 week training plan for the pre-reg year.
  • When constructing your plan use the performance standards

as a template which can be found in the pre-registration manual. The performance standards are simply learning outcomes that need to be achieved during the year.
  • Using the standards, plan logically either weekly or monthly. Plan how they will be demonstrated and when they are to be achieved.
  • Approach it in a simple and easy to follow order (eg the order it appears within the manual) to make it easy for the trainee, staff and GPhC to understand.

Tips for creating a plan

Your training plan must include the following:

  • Cover the full period of pre-registration training (52 or 26 weeks as applicable).
  • Be laid out chronologically and be clearly defined (for example weekly or monthly).
  • Specify the area of practice in which the trainee will be working throughout the training period.
  • Include training that will occur at the main site and at alternative locations.
  • State the objectives within each area of practice and map the activities to the Performance Standards to identify how all 76 standards will be met.
  • Include a range of clinical topics throughout the plan.
  • Include the name and address of the training provider.
  • Be presented in a typed format.
  • Be current and dated.
  • Include a date for review.

The Numark Training Plan currently meets the criteria set by the General Pharmaceutical Council to provide pre-registration training. All training plans must be reviewed annually.
